TRAVEL

This page concerns pictures I have taken in my travel times in New England where I lived most of my life. New England states are full of beauty and wonders whether on hikes in the mountains, cities, small country towns and or ocean coast. New England has so many photo opportunities.

Lake Winnipesauke, NH

This past October, my husband and I went on a weekend trip to beautiful Lake Winnipesauke in New Hampshire. The lake is in the white mountains area and is the largest lake in the state of New Hampshire and many towns are connected to it. The lake is known for its clear water and contains over 264 islands of different sizes.  It is 20 miles long and 12 miles wide surrounded by many mountain views. The deepest point of the lake is over 200 feet. The lake was naturally made and formed many years ago by glaciers which is why it is known as a glacial lake.
Many people spend many seasons on the lake participating in many activities including ice fishing, skiiing, hiking, boating, boat charters, craft fairs and more.
My husband and I stayed at a nice hotel resort in Gilford not far from Weirs Beach which is one of the popular beaches on the lake.
We had a beautiful pictoristic views of the mountains on the lake. We were there at the time when the foliage was at the peak of coloration.
We spent time cruising along the lake visiting the many different towns , went hiking and took a charter on the lake itself viewing the water and the many different islands and mountains. I took many pictures. The views were so captivating.

These are the views my husband and I saw every day from our window at our hotel. The view was a beautiful sight to behold. I love where I reside but I also love to see new places and experiencing all that my eyes beheld was quite unforgettable. The colors were so bright shining under the warm sunlight, the lake's colors were magical and the sky shown different shades of blue hazes. I took these shots from the hotel deck and balcony. I used different lenses and modes to capture the perfect coloring during the day hours without needing to much editing.

Weir's Beach

On the first day of our visit we drove to Weir's Beach a famous area on Lake Winnipesaukee. Being my first trip to the area I could not wait to see the lake I had heard so much about. Weir's Beach has a board walk, a train that runs through and a beautiful pier. Even though it was off season, I still saw people walking on the board walk with friends, family and dog walkers. I also witnessed people hanging out on the docks watching boats arrive and leave from the pier. The lake was calm, clear and beautiful. Everywhere we looked we were surrounded by countless number of mountains on both sides of the lake that just added artistry to the scene. I took pictures of the section of the pier we were at and all the activity that was present.

M/S Mount Washington 11

"Cruise on the Lake"

At Weirs Beach there is a train track which runs parrel to the board walk and there is also a good sized harbor where different boats dock and leave from. This harbor is home to a famous flagship vessel called the"MS Mount Washington 11".

The vessel was and launched in 1940 after a fire destroyed the first vessel the SS Mount Washington at the WEir's pier in 1939. She was made from a side-wheel steamboat and has gone through several changes including her length. The vessel also went through several ownership changes throughout her years. The MS Mount Washington has been used as a day cruise ship on Lake Winnipesaukee for people to enjoy cruising the lake viewing the mountain scenery and the different islands day and evening. She has several ports of call including Wolfboro and Meredith Bay.The vessel is 230 ft long and can hold up to 125 passengers. It has an outdoor upper level and also an inner area where refreshments can be served while traveling and viewing the scenery.

My husband and I decided to take the criuse on the ship to see the scenes of the lake for the first time. The ride was over an hour and took us from one side of the lake to other. The vessel began at Weirs Beach and stopped at the pier in Wolfsboro and returned to the original pier in Weirs. The views on the lake were just unforgettable. We were surrounded by mountains and the water was so clam and breath taking. As I was taking pictures with my telephoto lense, I felt I was viewing and capturing the majesty of God. I was so in awe.
